Jenifer Weanie , Director of the Empire Organisation Ipsiwch was lucky enough to be invited to Greece for the Owners meeting, here is her story……
Jamie, Matt and I were invited to participate in the Owners Meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece earlier this month. Our flights were in the afternoon of Thursday June 30th from Gatwick Airport. However, strikes and protests in both UK and Greece meant we would have delays at the airports and actual flight times, so we left Ipswich in the middle of the night to ensure plenty of time for any obstacles, expected or unexpected! We arrived at the airport nice and early just in time for breakfast, even a little bit of shopping, before we met with the rest of the group, Mark Cox director of ANB Promotions, Pamela Glass director of Topaz Promotions and their guests Brenda, Gary and Nainisha. We all made it on time, boarded the plane and headed for sunny Greece.
When we arrived in Thessaloniki it was lovely and warm! We were greeted by two of the Greek Owners Dimitra Sitsani director of MADs Marketing and Niki Moutsara director of C.T.G. Marketing. They were lovely and kind enough to pick us up at the airport and give us a little tour of the city on our way to the office. The office was Great! Bright, Colourful and Lively!
Finally we arrived at our beautiful hotel with a fantastic balcony that to our surprise had a Sea View! We quickly dropped off our bags and headed out into town as we were eager to see more of Thessaloniki. We shopped a little, as you do, and found a nice restaurant on the waterfront for some lunch.
But nothing could have prepared me for the meal to come! We had the most incredible Greek Feast that first evening! I just could not believe the variety and the amount of food that kept coming out! Plate after plate, delicious and amazing and so much! I loved it! During the evening we were visited by several street vendors selling all different kinds of merchandise and I bought Empire a horn for those morning meetings!
The next morning we headed into the office for their morning meeting and were joined by Steve Adgemis the Country Head of Greece and Roberto Malaroda director of Luna Marketing in Italy. It was a very energetic morning meeting with lots of cheering in Greek! We then attended the Greek Owners and Assistant Owners meeting. It was a very informative meeting with lots of theoretical and practical advice on how to run your direct sales company more effectively and efficiently. The Assistant owners had a surprise sales competition and took the visitors from UK, (ie. Jamie and Matt) onto the field in Thessaloniki! The task was the 1st team to arrive back with 2 sales won a Full Body Massage at the Hotel Spa. Constantine and Brenda were the first back!
Howie Seymour, Organisational Head and Director of Progressive Global Training, gave out 32 signed Olympiacos FC shirts for each office to frame and display on their wall.
The second evening we headed out for another “Greek Feast” , although this time I was informed that it wouldn’t be as big as the previous night, but I think it was equally as enormous! The Greeks definitely know how to feed and entertain their guests!
After the meal we had an early night because we knew we had a big day ahead for the North Region, Regional Sales, Development and Customer Service meeting, (aka “Rising Stars” or “Rally” !!). The meeting started off like a party atmosphere, energetic and vibrant. Lots of awards and recognitions handed out to the top achievers in Greece, as well as several promotions to Crew Leader, Assistant Owner and Ownership. Half way through the day we had a lunch break, in the scorching 35 degree sun, where we had a chance to better introduce ourselves and network. I made some great contacts and got some great tips! The second half of the meeting was more informative with keynote speakers from successful colleagues who shared their stories, advice and relevant tips for individuals’ needs.
The meeting came to a close and we headed off for a bit of shopping, (this seems to be a recurring theme!). And then went with everyone to another beautiful hotel for a Pool Party, where we enjoyed more food and cocktails in great company, and in the Heat! And that evening we went to the Garden Rooftop Bar for a Farewell meeting, enjoyed cocktails, new friends and the incredible view of the sea. And of course the evening continued into Thessaloniki where we partied the night away!
The last morning there was a Sunrise Boat Party hosted which we sadly could not attend as we had to catch our flights. However, I heard it was incredible!
I would like to give a huge thank you to Howie for the invitation, to Debbie for organising everything and to everyone we met and spent time with for such a wonderful time. The trip was a huge success and a great memory! Thank You!
